DESCRIPTION:Join us for this special film screening of episode 5 of The National Parks: America’s Best Idea and a discussion with award-winning\, documentary film director Ken Burns. \n\n \nPre-sales have closed\, but there are still tickets available at the Palm. Doors open at 5:30.\nKen Burns has been making documentary films for more than 30 years. Since the Academy Award-nominated Brooklyn Bridge in 1981\, he has gone on to direct and produce some of the most acclaimed historical documentaries ever made. \nBurns was the director\, producer\, co-writer\, chief cinematographer\, musical director and executive producer of the landmark television series The Civil War. The film was the highest-rated series in the history of American public television – prior to Baseball\, and attracted an audience of 40 million during its premiere in September 1990. The New York Times called it a “masterpiece\,” and that Burns\, takes his place as the most accomplished documentary filmmaker of his generation.” \nSome of Burns’ other films include\, The Address (2014)\, The Central Park Five (2013)\, Jackie Robinson (2016)\, Prohibition\, (2011)\, and The War (2007)\, which was co-directed with Lynn Novick. \nBook and DVD sales will also be available courtesy of the Between the Covers Bookstore. \n\nAll tickets will be available at will call.  Physical tickets will not be sent out ahead of the event. \n\n

DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, August 30th 2016\n5:00 pm -7:30 pm\nMembers: 35 Non-members: $40 \nMeet at the New Sheridan! \nCrawl Stops: New Sheridan\, Oak\, OB’s and The Buck \nHonor Telluride’s drinking history with a Historic Pub Crawl. The crawl kicks off with stories of Telluride’s drinking hey day at The New Sheridan bar. From there\, crawlers head to Oak to put more than just booze in their belly. After a little sustenance\, participants will head to the new O’Bannon’s/ Moon location for the grungier side of Telluride’s modern drinking era. Finally\, the crawl will end at the Last Dollar Saloon which was originally built as the National Club\, a saloon\, and sporting hall. Throughout the evening\, special guests will bring to life the long-forgotten characters\, stories\, and traditions of Telluride’s pioneer drinkers. \nTickets to the event include a signature beverage at each of the stops\, tasty eats at Oak\, and the chance to win a beer stein and Tellurider gear.
