DESCRIPTION:August 18th\,  9am \nMeeting at the Museum \nHike into History: Ames Hydro Power \nWith Rudy Davison \nThis tour will take approximately 5 hours and is a moderate hike combined with driving portions. \nThe tour will be carpooling from the Museum to the Ames Power Plant for a behind the scenes tour. Then we will caravan to the top of Lizard Head pass and walk down to the old RGS Railroad bed and on to the trestle at the south end of the lake. \nParticipants should bring water\, snacks\, lunch\, and rain and sun protection. \n$20 Non-Members | $15 Members

DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday\, August 26th for our fifth annual An Evening with Ken Burns event!  This year we will be screening episode 6\, “Things Fall Apart”\, from his ground-breaking documentary\, “The Vietnam War”. \nThe event will also feature an audience Q&A with Ken Burns and a book and DVD signing presented in conjunction with Between the Covers book store. \nTickets are $25 for non-members\, $20 for members\, and $5 for students and can be purchased here or by calling or visiting the Museum. \nPlease note that all tickets will be distributed via will call.  No physical tickets will be sent out in advance of the screening. \n(Photo credit: Tim Llewellyn) \nAbout the Film… \nThe Vietnam War tells the epic story of one of the most consequential\, divisive\, and controversial events in American history as it has never before been told on film. Visceral and immersive\, the series explores the human dimensions of the war through revelatory testimony of nearly 80 witnesses from all sides—Americans who fought in the war and others who opposed it\, as well as combatants and civilians from North and South Vietnam.
