DESCRIPTION:Jeep & Hike into History: Corkscrew Gulch Turntable with Rudy Davison \nSaturday\, September 23\, 2023\, 9am \nMeet at the Telluride Museum \nRudy Davison\, Telluride Historical Museum board member and mining historian\, will lead our final excursion\, combining a Jeep drive and hike. The route will drive over Ophir Pass and Red Mountain Pass to the Corkscrew Gulch Turntable\, a narrow gauge railroad remnant close to the ghost town of Ironton. It is the only known turntable built on the mainline of a U.S. railroad. \nFor this event with the Telluride Historical Museum\, attendees must ride in a 4×4 (there are limited spaces available for those interested who do not have their own vehicle). The museum welcomes volunteers who do possess a 4×4\, and are willing to drive others. \nThe tour will depart from the Museum at 9am. Hiking components of the excursion will be short and moderate. This is an all-day event and participants will most likely not be back in Telluride until 6pm. Pack lunch\, snacks\, water\, sunscreen\, and weather-appropiate gear. Pre-registration is required. \n$40 for non-members\, $20 for Museum members \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE!
