DESCRIPTION:The Telluride Historical Museum is excited to announce its upcoming annual exhibit\, “Festival Capital of the Rockies: 50 Years of Festivals in Telluride\,” which explores the vibrant history and culture of Telluride’s festivals. \nOver the past fifty years\, Telluride has become home to numerous festivals that celebrate the arts\, music\, film\, and the outdoors. These events have become a defining characteristic of Telluride\, attracting visitors from all over the world and contributing to the town’s economic and cultural vitality. \nThe exhibit showcases the evolution of festivals in Telluride\, featuring memorabilia\, photographs\, behind-the-scenes stories\, and more. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the 50 years of the iconic Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Telluride Film Festivals\, as well as the many other significant annual events that have helped shape Telluride’s identity as the “Festival Capital of the Rockies.” \n“Festival Capital of the Rockies: 50 Years of Festivals in Telluride” will open to the public with a free opening reception on June 8\, 2023 at 5:30pm. Refreshments will be provided. \nThe exhibit will be on display at the Telluride Historical Museum from June 8\, 2023\, through the close of the 2024 winter season (early April 2024). The museum will be open Mondays through Saturdays in the summer (closed Sundays)\, from 10am to 5pm.

DESCRIPTION:Join us on Halloween night for trick-or-treating on the hill with your little ones\, and a thrilling evening in our Haunted Hospital! \nTrick-or-Treating will take place on Fir Street from 5-7pm followed by our Haunted Hospital beginning at 7pm. You’re in for a night of fright at the museum! \nThe Haunted Hospital will be $10 per person. \n  \nWe are still seeking volunteers to throw on a costume and whip out your acting skills as you contribute to the spookiness of our Haunted Hospital. DESCRIPTION:A favorite activity for the young explorers of Telluride\, our Sluicing Station in the east courtyard of the museum will reopen on June 15th! This hands-on way of exploring the mining history of the town is sure to be a fun way to keep busy and cool off during our hot summer days. Established in 1882\, this 900-acre Wilson Mesa property is one of the last surviving multi-generation working ranches on the Western Slope. Marvin Schmid & Kayla Schmid Brack will be sharing stories\, video\, and answering questions about their historic family homestead on Wilson Mesa and the process of preserving this important piece of Colorado agricultural history.\nFREE and open to the public.\n* Tax-deductible donations toward the preservation of Schmid Ranch are encouraged and are to be made out to ‘San Miguel Conservation Foundation.’ \n \n

DESCRIPTION:The Telluride Historical Museum has partnered with the Historic Architectural Review Commission (HARC) to offer complimentary tours of the historic Town of Telluride once a month throughout the summer. These walking tours will explore Telluride architecture and built environment highlighting which buildings have been preserved and how Telluride retains its charming character.\n \nThe tours will take place the second Friday of June\, July\, August & September and will depart from the Museum at 10:00 AM.\n \nHARC Tours are free.
