Lesson Plans:

A Day in the Life of a Miner: This lesson explores what daily life would’ve been like for a Miner. Students will have a chance to roleplay as a miner and learn about the challenges they faced. (2nd-5th)

Western Lives: This lesson is on people who inhabited the west, their occupations and experiences. In this lesson students will research the lives of different people in the west and create a diary entry based upon their findings. (6th-12th)

Labor History: This lesson covers the labor disputes between the miners union and other groups during the early 20th century. Students will research a role and present information in a debate style format. (6th-12th)

Digital Tools/Tours: These tools are designed to allow students to explore local and state history individually or as a class. Some are stand alone tools, while others will have worksheets, vocabulary pages, or other materials to accompany them.
