Bill and Todd’s Excellent Ames Adventure

February 9, 2019 @ 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM MST

Bill and Todd of Mountain Trip have partnered with the Telluride Historical Museum for an action packed day of history and ice climbing in Ames.

It’s the next best thing to a time machine…start off the adventure with a special behind the scenes tour of the Ames Power Plant. In 1891, this power plant was the first in the world to use alternating current for commercial purposes successfully. Using technology perfected by Nikola Tesla, the Ames Power Plant harnessed hydro-power through an induction motor to produce and transmit electrical power. The power plant was rebuilt in the early 1900s and still stands and operates today.

Following this tour, Mountain Trip will provide an introduction to ice climbing while we explore the totally awesome history and basics of this intense sport!

Transportation, climbing boots and gear will be provided. Please check out https://mountaintrip.com/tellurides-local-mountain-guides/ice-climbing/half-day-ice-climbing-in-telluride/ for tips on how to dress for ice climbing.  Plus don’t forget to pack sunscreen, layers, extra water and a lunch.

Limited spots available, participants must RSVP and provide their shoe size ahead of time. To purchase tickets contact Theresa at 970-728-3344 or at Theresa@telluridemuseum.org.

The outing will last around 5 hours. Meet at the Telluride Historical Museum at 9:00 am sharp to be fitted for gear.
