Meet at the Telluride Museum
Rudy Davison, Telluride Historical Museum board member and mining historian, will lead our final excursion, combining a Jeep drive and hike. The route will drive over Ophir Pass and Red Mountain Pass to the Corkscrew Gulch Turntable, a narrow gauge railroad remnant close to the ghost town of Ironton. It is the only known turntable built on the mainline of a U.S. railroad.
For this event with the Telluride Historical Museum, attendees must ride in a 4×4 (there are limited spaces available for those interested who do not have their own vehicle). The museum welcomes volunteers who do possess a 4×4, and are willing to drive others.
The tour will depart from the Museum at 9am. Hiking components of the excursion will be short and moderate. This is an all-day event and participants will most likely not be back in Telluride until 6pm. Pack lunch, snacks, water, sunscreen, and weather-appropiate gear. Pre-registration is required.
$40 for non-members, $20 for Museum members
