What are archaeologists learning from the remarkable pottery crafted by the ancestral Pueblo Indians?

Around 200 C.E., Pueblo peoples in the Southwest began producing pottery—utilitarian brown wares, and later, exquisitely painted white wares. Dr. Kari Schleher, an expert in the study of ancient pottery in the Southwest, will discuss how the study of pottery is helping to address questions of migration and community development in the Basketmaker III period (500–750 C.E.).
