Position Description

Title: Visitor Services Coordinator
Function: Customer service/reception/cashier

Type: Part-Time, 2-3 days a week
FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Wage: $15-$18/hour, depending on experience

General Job Description
The Telluride Historical Museum is seeking a friendly, outgoing, and engaging individual to serve as a Visitor Services Coordinator.  The Visitor Services Coordinator works at the Museum’s front desk and provides all services associated with the front desk including greeting and orienting gusts upon their arrival to the Museum, taking payment for admission and gift shop sales, answering guest questions during their visit, restocking gift shop inventory, and answering the phone and routing calls to appropriate office staff members.

 

Specific Responsibilities:
Serving as the public/frontline face of the Museum.

Greeting and orienting guests upon their arrival to the Museum.

Serving as cashier for admission fees, membership renewals, and gift shop purchases.

Interacting with Museum visitors, answering questions (with help from office staff as needed) during the duration of guests’ visits.

Serving as front line receptionist answering the phone, routing calls, and taking messages for office staff.

Restocking/merchandising the gift shop as necessary.

Under the direction of the Executive Director, ordering supplies and gift shop inventory as necessary.

Desired Experience and Skills

Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential

Experience and comfort with talking to people with various backgrounds

Experience and comfort with register/point-of-sale work, including taking cash payments and operating the credit card machine. 

Experience and comfort with basic computer-based tasks, such as email, point of sale systems, etc.

Ability to follow directions but capable of/comfortable with thinking on your feet.

Minimum Requirements

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Some experience working reception, front desk, customer experience jobs.

Basic computer skills.

Ability/desire to work in a family-like atmosphere with a close-knit group of co-workers.
